The story continues, for when I saw the King Tut poster, I simply had to have it. I chased it for months, calling up and down the chain of managers at Muvico. I offered money to lower level theater employees, which was refused. Ultimately, the manager of the theater, after approval from a district manager, gave the poster to me as a gift. I have been and will remain forever grateful for that act.
King Tut is my most coveted poster. Because it was so rewarding chasing that poster, I set upon chasing other advertising posters. What I have found is this; by and large, no one really collects them except for those who like having a THS or Dolby Digital poster for their home theater wall. The others you see below are rare, not because they are in such high demand, but quite simply because they get thrown away after use.
I can never quite convey to those who may offer them to me, that I want to acquire any advertising poster -- I don't care what the subject matter is, so long as it's a onesheet size poster that was intended for use, or actually used in, a movie theater lobby. The ratings posters are tough, and I want them all! They're right up there with old Dolby and THX posters. DTS posters are welcome, and I wonder if there is any type of SDDS poster (Sony's scheme). I know they're out there, and the fun is in waiting for them to pop up.

10/4/06: This is the first and only set of AA posters I have. I thought I might collect earlier posters, but I try to avoid collecting for the sake of collecting. These have meaning for me because they are the first Awards posters I have purchased during the time I have been purchasing posters, if that makes any sense. Crash won, and it warranted winning. Brokeback Mountain was all the gossip, while Capote and Walk the Line stole the show for best actor and actress. THAT's why I own these posters. R/DS. |

When I contacted Dolby directly, they were very helpful and shipped me replacement DS versions at no cost. R/DS.

12/17/07. I have this poster in my collection already, but it was mounted on board by the previous owner, and that irked me. So, when this came up for sale along with the Dolby Stereo one listed nexted, I was so happy! Now, enter the United States Post Office! Another tube crushed and another wonderful poster mangled by those boobs! Actually, it was a crimp in the tube that telegraphed through the whole poster that was not packed well to begin with. King Tut |

1/25/07. I could write a book on this one, I love it so much. For now, suffice to say that this was created by Muvico theaters in conjunction with the King Tut exhibit when it was here in Fort Lauderdale. I'd have paid a small fortune for this, but they gave it to me gratis. I am forever grateful for that, and will always be loyal to Muvico not just because they have the best sound, but because of how well they treated me as a customer. It's made of mylar, and it is nothing short of spectacular when lit up in the lightbox. |

____________
10/5/06: (from the wanted section) I saw this listed on the Posterwire.com poster blog. It's great! Look at the whole series of these, all done in connection with Halloween blood drives. 5/7/07. Well, this one is officially the second rarest of all my theater advertising posters, second only to my Muvico King Tut exhibition poster. 5/23/07. Strictly speaking, I've already added this to the Advertising collection a few weeks ago. However, when it came in and I got to see it and shoot a real pic of it, I just had to list it again. It's got a wonderful matte finish, almost like silk screening or stone lithography.
